Japanese automaker Honda plans to develop more than 20 electric models for the Chinese market by 2025, which is an important medium-term goal to expand the variety of electrified vehicles in the country, said the Executive Vice President of Honda Motor (China) at the press conference on 7 January.
In addition, according to Gasgoo, this year the market will also be an electric model, developed by a joint venture Dongfeng Honda and Honda Motor China Technology. It is also planned to release other models equipped with hybrid drive of the Honda Hybrid i-MMD (intelligent multi-mode drive), and a hybrid system with plug-in base i-MMD, which will appear next year.
In November, the Japanese first introduced electrocreaser Everus VE-1 at the motor show in Guangzhou. This marks the first electric model Honda for the Chinese market. Compact SUV based on Honda HR-V is a serial version of the Everus concept EV, presented at Auto China in April. The VE-1 will be used, inter alia, in the Chinese service for carpooling from 2019.
Honda is developing an updated version of the ADAS system “Honda SENSING”, is designed to work in various challenging road conditions, which will be sent on road tests next year in accordance with the actual scenarios of road traffic in China.
Last year, Honda has also achieved significant results in the electrification of vehicles in China. Models with the SPORT HYBRID i-MMD is popular among consumers. For example, a hybrid CR-V is more than 20% sales CR-V in December 2018.
In late October, Honda also announced the planned construction of a joint Chinese factory with the GAC on the production of electric vehicles and hybrids.
