Sales of electric cars in China are growing rapidly while the government has not ceased to stimulate the industry. At the same time, the total passenger car sales declining.
In January 2019 delivery of electric vehicles has increased more than in 2 times in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 85 000 units. During the same period, total vehicle sales decreased by 18% compared to January 2018.
These figures obtained from Chinese manufacturers Association show that the real numbers do not see increasing demand for electric cars, because the overall car market is shrinking. Many support government subsidies for electric cars that the state will cease to pay in 2020 and will significantly reduce in 2019.
Bloomberg notes that China has not yet promulgated a new plan of subsidies for 2019, which would cut discounts, so the Chinese consumer can settle for a relatively inexpensive electric vehicle.
The real situation on the market, including the real demand for electric cars without subsidies we will see in the next 2 years.
